IDEO Innovation Challenge

CONTEXT

Medicinal use of cannabis has been legal in California (USA) since 2012. Recreational use was passed in 2016. The industry is a $XXB with a CAGR of X%

THE CHALLENGE

How might we make the first adult use cannabis experience great?

APPROACH

Prior to the event, our team did some background - desk research and interviews . Issues working against a positive first use of cannabis were determined to be:

  1. social stigma

  2. lack of control

  3. external factors

We then took action to design against these by reframing, ideation, and affinity mapping:

  1. How might we remove stigma?

  2. How might we grant control?

  3. How might we control for external factors?

SOLUTION
Three physical environments each designed to solve for a user-pain point.

1. Reception

No cannabis use.

Education only.

Self-directed - call for dossent

We also created a “two-way doors” between each stage allowing users to turn back if they felt uncomfortable.

We also created a “two-way doors” between each stage allowing users to turn back if they felt uncomfortable.
